WHAT WE KNOW, AND WHY

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what DEADLINE collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We collect as little as we can to run the service, and we never sell your data.

LAST UPDATED: JUNE 16, 2026

1. Who we are

DEADLINE is operated by ARMEN ARMEN LIMITED(“DEADLINE,” “we,” “us”), the controller of your personal data. Contact us any time at admin@urdeadline.com.

2. What we collect

Account data: your email address and the handle (or pseudonym) you choose, provided through our authentication provider, plus your timezone and account settings.

Your content: the manuscripts you write, their word counts, your daily writing records, streaks, and the state of any punishments — this is the data the product exists to track.

Payment data: when you buy credits or place a Ransom, our payment processor collects and stores your card details. We never receive or store your full card number. We keep a record of transactions, amounts, and a processor reference.

Technical data: standard server and security logs (e.g., IP address, device/ browser info, timestamps) generated when you use the service, and basic usage analytics collected via Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used.

3. How we use it

To run DEADLINE: authenticate you, store and display your manuscripts, run the daily judgment and punishment mechanics, process purchases and Ransom forfeitures, publish the Wall of Shame entries described below, send service emails, prevent cheating and abuse, keep the service secure, and meet legal and accounting obligations. We do not use your manuscripts to train AI models.

4. Legal bases (for users in the EEA/UK)

We process your data to perform our contract with you (running the service and processing payments), for our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product improvement), to comply with legal obligations(accounting, tax), and with your consent where we ask for it (e.g., optional notifications).

5. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers (“sub-processors”) that help us run DEADLINE, under contracts that limit their use of it:

  • Authentication — to create and secure your login.
  • Payments — to process card payments and Ransom forfeitures.
  • Hosting & database — to run the app and store your data.
  • Email — to send service and warning emails.
  • AI processing — for optional AI-driven punishment effects, where enabled.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics, to measure aggregate usage and improve the product.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a business transfer (with notice).

6. Information you make public

Some of what you do on DEADLINE is public by design. When a manuscript dies, a gravestone — its title, basic stats, a short excerpt of your final words, and your handle or your chosen pseudonym— is published to the Wall of Shame, and each Ransom has a pledge page on a private, non-guessable link. Choose a pseudonym at signup if you don’t want your handle shown. Public pages may be indexed by search engines.

7. How long we keep it

Manuscripts: kept while your account is active. At permadeath a copy is held in encrypted escrow for 45 days (the resurrection window) and then permanently purged. Version snapshots are kept short-term (about 90 days) to enable recovery.

On account deletion: your manuscripts and escrow are purged immediately. Financial-ledger records are anonymized rather than deleted (the user link is removed) so we keep accurate, auditable accounting without retaining your identity. Some data may persist briefly in backups and security logs before rotating out.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and the Colorado Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can delete your account and data yourself from the dashboard, or email admin@urdeadline.com. We do not sell or “share” personal data for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights, and you may appeal a decision or complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest for escrowed manuscripts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and to notify you of any breach as required by law.

10. International transfers

DEADLINE is operated from, and its providers may process data in, the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by law.

11. Children

DEADLINE isn’t for children. You must be at least 16 to use it and at least 18 to pay or place a Ransom. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

12. Communications

We send transactional emailsnecessary to run the service — for example, the warning emails before a manuscript is purged. These aren’t marketing and can’t be opted out of while you have data at stake. Any optional or marketing emails, where offered, are consent-based and unsubscribable.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We’ll change the date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email. Continuing to use DEADLINE after a change means you accept it.
